Maxx Crosby Expected to Miss Rest of Season

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Raiders Edge Maxx Crosby needs arthroscopic surgery on the ankle injury that has already knocked him out for Week 15. Crosby's expected to miss the rest of the season.

        What They're Saying

Schefter: "Crosby is scheduled to meet Monday with Dr. Rob Anderson and undergo the arthroscopic surgery that will determine whether further surgery is needed and how much damage the Raiders' standout defensive end suffered on an ankle injury he initially hurt in Week 2 at Baltimore."

Losing Crosby is obviously a big blow to a Vegas defense that hasn't been very good even with him on the field.

The ankle injury likely helps to explain why Crosby has just 1 sack over his past six games. He does still lead the league with 17 tackles for loss, however, and would have been on pace to lead the NFL in that category for the third straight season.

Crosby's 20 QB hits through 12 games also wasn't far off his pace of the past three seasons.

We'll see about the extent of the ankle damage after this initial surgery, and judge from there whether we should be concerned about impact on his 2025.

Tyree Wilson and K'Lavon Chaisson figure to lead the Raiders edge group in playing time the rest of the way. Neither comes close to Crosby's upside, though.

Chaisson has tallied 2 sacks over the past two games. But he has just 6 QB hits for the season, with half of those coming in a single game against the Chiefs.
