The Seahawks are releasing WR Tyler Lockett. The 32-year-old has spent 10 years with the team after arriving as a third-round pick in 2015. From 2019-2023, Lockett topped 100 targets and 70 receptions every year, finishing 16th or higher among PPR WRs in four of those five seasons. His production fell off last year, though. Lockett ranked third on the team in targets and catches but just fifth in receptions per game, trailing TE Noah Fant and RB Kenneth Walker III.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo: "This takes $17 million off the Seahawks' books and gives Lockett the chance to find a new home for the first time in his career. Pete Carroll and the Raiders surely will inquire."
ESPN's Adam Schefter: "One natural landing spot ... is the Las Vegas Raiders. ... Carroll always has been a big supporter."
Perhaps there's no more to those comments than the natural connection of the veteran WR to his longtime head coach, on a team that needs WR help. But it would certainly make sense.
Only TE Brock Bowers and WR Jakobi Meyers reached 50 receptions among Raiders last year. And the team's top 5 included:
That said, if Lockett spends his age-33 season as the Raiders' No. 2 wideout, it'll be a bad sign for the team's passing game.
Don't bet on Lockett making much fantasy impact in 2025. He looks like a late-round redraft consideration at best.
He rates as commonly undrafted by current best ball ADP.
