        Commanders Keep Zach Ertz

        Zach Ertz Headshot

The Commanders have agreed to a one-year deal with TE Zach Ertz. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Ertz will get $6.25 million, with incentives that could push it to $9 million. That marks a big jump from the one-year, $3 million pact that brought Ertz to Washington in 2024.

        2025 Fantasy Football Impact

OC Kliff Kingsbury called Ertz "one of the greatest pass-catching tight ends in the history of the league" in December. And ESPN's John Keim said after the season that Washington wanted to bring the veteran TE back.

So the re-signing doesn't come as a surprise. And the significant pay increase says Ertz will remain a key receiving option.

The Commanders, though, also traded for WR Deebo Samuel. That move makes Ertz a much weaker bet to rank second on the team in targets, as he did last year.

Ertz finished last season 11th among TEs in PPR points per game, while ranking 12th at the position in target share (adjusted for games missed).

He's likely to rank lower in the second category, which will make it tougher for Ertz to reach TE1 territory in fantasy production.

        Other Winners & Losers

Second-year TE Ben Sinnott loses for Ertz getting re-signed. But it was pretty clear the Commanders needed to see more from Sinnott before counting on him.

Ertz was still a Cardinal when TE Trey McBride broke out, but Kingsbury wasn't there anymore.

We'll see about Sinnott's progress this summer.

        Best Ball Impact

Ertz sits 21st among TEs in best ball ADP as of this writing. He's certainly a good value at that level but figures to rise now that he has a 2025 contract.

Don't chase Ertz above mid-TE2 territory.
