        Justin Fields Chooses Jets

The Jets have agreed to a two-year, $40 million deal with QB Justin Fields. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Fields will get $30 million guaranteed.

        2025 Fantasy Football Impact

Obviously the Jets have signed Fields to start for at least this season. The size of the deal points to him likely starting for the next two years, but the structure might also allow room to quit on Fields in 2026 if this first season doesn't work out.

He'll reconnect with Garrett Wilson, who spent two seasons with Fields at Ohio State before the QB entered the draft.

Fields started the first six games for Pittsburgh last year and posted a fantasy-scoring average that would have ranked 11th at the position for the season. Before that, he finished 13th and sixth in fantasy points per game across two seasons as Chicago's full-time starter.

Fields posted career-best marks in completion rate, passer rating, passing success rate, and sack rate last year. His 39 rushing yards per start marked a dip vs. 2023 and 2022 but trailed just four other QBs:

        • Lamar Jackson (53.8)
        • Jayden Daniels (52.4)
        • Anthony Richardson (45.4)
        • Jalen Hurts (42.0)

The rushing ability makes Fields less reliant on surrounding talent to support his fantasy production. Wilson and RB Breece Hall are a nice start on that front, though. We'll see what else the Jets add this offseason.

Fields carries top-12 fantasy potential and could wind up a nice value in 2025 drafts. We'll see how the market reacts to his landing spot.

        Dynasty Impact

Fields is a high-upside fantasy performer whenever in the lineup. Just beware of over-trusting his starter status with the Jets.

Fields should be a lock to keep the job at least through this season. And he's obviously the favorite for 2026 as of right now.

Just don't chase him in trade assuming he's suddenly a long-term answer.
