The Jets will release QB Aaron Rodgers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. The move has been expected for a while but will become official after 4 pm ET on Wednesday. The Jets are taking on $49 million in dead money by dumping Rodgers. He's coming off an underwhelming season, resulting in a 5-12 record. Rodgers averaged just 229 passing yards per game on 6.7 yards per attempt -- tied for his worst mark as a starter.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Rodgers' next team is seemingly down to the Giants or Steelers, although we've heard whispers that the Vikings could still get involved.
Minnesota would easily be the best landing spot for Rodgers' fantasy value. New York would leave him behind a shaky offensive line with limited weaponry behind WR Malik Nabers. Pittsburgh offers a strong WR duo in D.K. Metcalf and George Pickens -- but a run-loving OC in Arthur Smith.
Rodgers is ultimately unlikely to be more than a low-end QB2 for 2025 fantasy squads. We'll keep you posted on his job hunt.
