Former Texas WR Isaiah Bond turned himself in to the Frisco Police Department on Thursday for a sexual assault warrant. He was released after posting bail and issued a statement denying the charges against him.
Bond's statement: "Regarding the accusation made against me, I would appreciate the time and opportunity to defend myself and prove the claims made, patently false. I am in full cooperation with the authorities and will remain a willing and active participant in the investigation. Unfortunately, claims like these prove to be harmful to all involved, absent full review. I kindly request that all reserve judgement until the authorities provide a complete report based on truth and evidence."
Bond has been expected to be a Day 2 pick in the draft later this month, but this situation could impact his stock. It's worth noting that scouts told Go Long's Bob McGinn that there were character concerns with Bond.
“Prototypical what you would think of in a wide receiver: just generic boilerplate, selfish, diva wide receiver,” one scout said.
We'll keep tabs on Bond's legal situation and see where he lands in the draft in a couple of weeks. For now, we're keeping him seventh in the dynasty rookie WR rankings.
