Regarding a potential trade of QB Kirk Cousins, ESPN’s Adam Schefter writes that the Falcons “have had discussions with teams – and have asked for a lot in return.”
Here’s more from Schefter, via ESPN, on Atlanta’s current thinking.
“Atlanta has asked for any acquiring team to pay $20 million of the $45 million worth of guarantees left on Cousins' contract. To date, no has been willing to do that, and no team is expected to be willing to. But what happens this weekend -- and which franchises come out of the draft with or without rookie quarterbacks -- could influence how much guaranteed money a team might be willing to absorb on Cousins' contract.”
Schefter goes on to mention the Vikings and Steelers as teams that “might be willing to pay down roughly $10 million.”
Cousins is running low on potential starting spots. Think Cleveland, Pittsburgh, or New Orleans.
Pittsburgh would be the best spot for deep-league fantasy value. We'll see if a decision from Aaron Rodgers comes down before the NFL Draft.
Regardless, Cousins shouldn't be in your early best ball plans. In 2024, he posted his worst INT rate since 2014 and his worst PFF passing grade since 2017. He finished as a top-10 fantasy QB in only four of 14 games.
The former Viking turns 37 in August.
