The New York Jets signed Michigan RB Donovan Edwards to an Undrafted Free Agent contract after the 2025 NFL Draft. Edwards made a name for himself in 2022 with a dominant game against rival Ohio State, rushing for 216 yards and two TDs. The Michigan native disappointed in his final season at Michigan, however. With Blake Corum leaving, eyes were on Edwards to fill the lead back role. After early inefficiency, he lost the job to power back Kalel Mullings and never cleared 100 rushing yards in any game. Still, the former five-star recruit had a solid Senior Bowl and posted a 4.45 40-time at 205 pounds. He also proved throughout his career that he can contribute as a pass catcher. There could be untapped potential for Edwards at the pro level.
Edwards surprisingly ended up as the back-up at Michigan this year behind RB Kalel Mullings who was selected in the sixth round.
He has solid speed and athleticism, but his vision left a lot to be desired.
The Jets have a stacked situation at RB with Breece Hall, Braelon Allen, and Isaiah Davis.
It is unlikely that Donovan Edwards will crack the roster, but he may be able to make the taxi squad.
Edwards has no redraft or dynasty value currently.
