The Panthers placed RB Jonathon Brooks on the Physically Unable to Perform list on Thursday. Brooks, who tore his ACL in Week 14, will miss the entire 2025 season.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Brooks tore the same ACL in 2023, so today’s news isn’t a huge shock. Carolina signaled that they wouldn’t be relying on Brooks by adding RB Trevor Etienne in Round 4 of April’s draft.
Also note: GM Dan Morgan signed RB Chuba Hubbard to a contract extension in November.
We’ll see if Brooks can carve out a role upon returning in 2026. He’ll be just 23 years old by the start of the ‘26 season.
For now, Carolina will move forward with Hubbard as the clear lead back. Etienne will look to earn a change of pace role ahead of free agent addition Rico Dowdle.
The former Cowboy was effective last year, posting 4.6 yards per carry on 235 attempts. He added 3.28 yards after contact per attempt. That ranked ninth among 25 RBs with 200+ carries, per Pro Football Focus.
We’ll keep a close eye on the split behind Hubbard in training camp.
Dynasty Impact
Brooks remains a stash in standard dynasty formats. But if you're playing in a format with limited roster spots -- think FFPC -- he's easy to cut loose.
