Dolphins beat writer Joe Schad believes RB Jaylen Wright is “poised for a Year 2 breakout.”
Wright recently mentioned a change in body composition. "I probably added about probably six pounds,” Wright said at OTAs. “I lost a lot of body fat. I gained a lot of muscle. That's why it might look like I'm a little bigger."
Here’s an interesting insight from HC Mike McDaniel, again via Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post:
"When we had exit meetings, I was talking to Jaylen Wright about being able to non-verbally communicate to me his hunger for an increased role," McDaniel said. "I see better than I hear, and four OTAs in, I can see him following through with that."
Wright enters the season as the No. 2 RB behind De'Von Achane.
While Achane's developed into one of the most explosive backs in the league, his size (5'9, 188) and injury history give Wright a path to fantasy value. In 2024, Achane sustained an ankle sprain and a concussion. His 2023 turned up a sprained shoulder and an MCL sprain.
Wright could develop into a higher-volume part-timer even when Achane's healthy. Miami selected Wright in Round 4 of the 2024 draft after running a 4.38 forty-time at 210 pounds. His 9.82 Relative Athletic Score ranked 33 out of 1,765 RBs tracked since 1987.
We're prioritizing the second-year back as an RB4/RB5 stash in early drafts.
A loaded supporting cast, improved QB play, and offensive continuity set the stage for Atlanta to deliver serious fantasy value in 2025.
