Panthers HC Dave Canales complimented the development of QB Bryce Young. “I think the pace of our offensive development, evolution is growing at the pace of Bryce,” Canales said via The Athletic. “And he’s showing such great mastery of what we’re doing that he’s allowing us to really push the envelope and do more things.” Recall that Young was drafted to a Panthers team with HC Frank Reich and OC Thomas Brown. Now, the 24-year-old (in July) will get the benefit of growing in Canales’ system.
Here’s a noteworthy blurb from beat writer Joseph Person of The Athletic.
“Young wasn’t perfect [in offseason practices]. The 2023 No. 1 pick tossed a couple of interceptions last week, including a leaping pick by Mike Jackson on Thursday in what was a better day for the defense. But Young picked up where he left off at the end of 2024, which should bode well for ’25.”
Young ended 2024 as the QB21 in total fantasy points. But that hides his promising end to the season.
Consider this: Over his final six games, Young recorded four top-12 fantasy finishes. That includes finishes at QB1 (Week 18 at Atlanta) and QB2 (Week 16 vs. Arizona).
Now, don’t expect Young to perform as a reliable QB1 in 2025. Carolina’s WR corps – while improved with the addition of Tetairoa McMillan – remains unspectacular. Young also lacks the athleticism to post difference-making stats as a rusher.
Ultimately, we're buying Young as a spot-start option in leagues of 12+ teams. He's a fringe top-20 option in our updated QB rankings.
A loaded supporting cast, improved QB play, and offensive continuity set the stage for Atlanta to deliver serious fantasy value in 2025.
