Jets QB Justin Fields dislocated a non-big toe on his right foot in Thursday's practice, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. There's no fracture. Fields is still scheduled for an MRI, but all indications are that he avoided a serious injury. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that Fields should be ready for Week 1.
What They're Saying
Rapoport: "A dislocated non-big toe for Justin Fields fits in the category of an injury that could’ve been a lot worse. But still plenty of info to gather."
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo: "Still awaiting more word on Justin Fields but all vibes surrounding the Jets’ QB are he’ll be in line to start Week 1 against the Steelers."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Fields clearly avoided the worst-case scenario here, although we're curious to find out how much time he'll miss. He's working into a brand new offense under OC Tanner Engstrand. And it's not like Fields is a polished passer. He can use all the reps he can get.
Plus, Fields' fantasy value is strongly tied to his mobility. If this toe injury impacts his rushing production, he'll be a much less exciting option.
We'll keep you updated on Fields' status and timeline for return. For now, we're not moving him in the QB rankings.
