Tank Bigsby has been the Jaguars' best RB and has received the most first-team touches in training camp so far, according to multiple beat writers. Sports Illustrated's John Shipley wrote that Friday's practice was the "Tank Bigsby Show."
What They're Saying
Shipley on Bigsby's Friday performance: "If there was one running back who stood out throughout the practice, it was Tank Bigsby. Bigsby is normally a player who shines when the pads come on due to his physical nature, but he certainly looked the part in Friday's helmets and shorts practice, with the Jaguars' coaching staff frequently singing his praises. Bigsby seemingly got the bulk of the key reps for Liam Coen's offense, and as a result stood out quite a bit more than Travis Etienne."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
It's far too early to make any sweeping conclusions about Jacksonville's backfield. But the early reps are a bit more meaningful considering the Jaguars have a brand new coaching staff.
It's not surprising that Bigsby is playing ahead of rookie Bhayshul Tuten. But that Bigsby is ahead of Travis Etienne seems notable.
Bigsby is coming off a nice 2024 season. He averaged 4.6 yard per carry and ranked top 9 among 47 qualifying RBs in:
- Yards after contact per attempt
- Missed tackles forced per attempt
- Rush yards over expected per attempt
Bigsby beat Etienne in all three metrics.
We've had Bigsby projected to lead Jacksonville's backfield in carries all offseason -- although his lack of pass-catching ability hurts his spot in the RB rankings.
We'll continue to keep a close eye on this backfield over the next month. It's an important situation to get right considering HC Liam Coen's success with the Buccaneers' running game last year.
