Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson signed a four-year extension worth $52 million with $30 million guaranteed (including a $12 million signing bonus). This contract sets him up as the seventh-highest-paid TE in the NFL. Ferguson's consistency as a reliable pass catcher (and blocker) for QB Dak Prescott earned him the extension, adding continuity at the position for the Cowboys.
What They're Saying
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network: "
The Cowboys and standout TE Jake Ferguson have agreed to terms on a 4-year extension worth $52M in new money with $30M total guaranteed. The deal was done by agent Jack Bechta
Ferguson gets a $12M signing bonus. Dallas takes care of a young star."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Ferguson broke out in his second-year back in 2023 catching 71 passes for 761 yards and five TDs.
Last season with Prescott missing most of the season, Ferguson still hauled in 59 passes for 494 yards (though he had no scores).
Even with the addition of WR George Pickens, Ferguson should be a focal point of the passing game after he showed a rapport with Prescott in that second season.
With a lackluster RB room headed by Javonte Williams, we expect the Cowboys to lean on the pass.
We have Ferguson as a fantasy football sleeper at his current TE16 ADP.
Dynasty Impact
The Cowboys addition of Pickens may only be a one year rental with no long term deal apparent.
Ferguson being locked in with starter money for the Cowboys makes him a more valuable asset in dynasty than he was before the deal.
Though Ferguson likely never hits top-five TE status in fantasy, he could be a reliable back-end TE1 over the next few years tied to Prescott.
