According to Lions senior writer Tim Twentyman, OC John Morton suggested that he'll use both RBs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery on the field together more often this season.
What They're Saying
Morton: “I’m all about making the defense uneasy. I’m always looking to put our best players on the field at all times. I come from the school of multiple packages of personnel groupings in and out of the huddle and trying to keep the defense uneasy. That’s the school I come from. It’s going to be a cool thing.”
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
This comes a few weeks after Gibbs mentioned that he’s being moved out wide more than he was during his first two years. In 2024, Gibbs lined up on the outside just 38 times, according to Pro Football Focus. But if that number rises in Morton’s first year calling the plays, it will allow Montgomery to share the field with him a lot more often.
Of course, that could also result in more competition for touches for WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, TE Sam LaPorta, and WR Jameson Williams.
Even without former OC Ben Johnson, the Lions still project to be one of the best offenses in the league. But one or two fantasy options may fall short of their lofty ADPs. Our WR rankings already have Nico Collins, Malik Nabers, and Brian Thomas Jr. ahead of St. Brown.
