According to Marc Raimondi of ESPN, Falcons HC Raheem Morris is unsure if WR Darnell Mooney will be ready for Week 1. Mooney suffered a shoulder injury while diving for a pass a few days ago in practice.
What They're Saying
Raimondi: “Raheem Morris was non-committal on whether or not WR Darnell Mooney (shoulder) will be ready for Week 1, saying right now it’s a 'couple of weeks' and they’ll go from there.”
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
The Falcons recently signed veteran WR D.J. Chark, and it appears it had everything to do with Mooney’s injury, which now threatens his availability for the start of the regular season. Mooney averaged just under seven targets per game last year, while accounting for nearly 30% of Atlanta’s air yards.
Mooney missed the season finale last year with – you guessed it – a shoulder injury. During that contest, TE Kyle Pitts did nothing (because of course he did), logging just 44.5% of the snaps and running a route on only 56.4% of dropbacks. If Mooney misses time, Pitts would see an expanded role, though trusting him continues to be a leap of faith.
In that same game, WR Drake London saw a whopping 18 targets, good for an insane 48% target share.
London should continue to be drafted as a top-10 fantasy WR, though the uncertainty surrounding Mooney could push him up even higher. Pitts, meanwhile, remains a boom/bust TE option, though his value could be on the rise.
