Bills RB James Cook wasn't practicing Sunday. When asked why, he simply stood on "business". He has been seeking a new contract, but decided not to hold out. Cook has practiced sparingly during training camp, but could be moving to a "hold in" with no new progress on the deal.
What They're Saying
Alaina Getzenberger of ESPN: "Bills RB James Cook asked why he didn’t practice today?
'Business.'
Followed up with if he’ll practice tomorrow: 'Business.'
Kept repeating “business” over and over."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Cook started camp attending practice, but the lack of progress could have made the decision to stay on the sidelines during camp.
He was already a TD regression candidate after rushing for 16 scores last year, following just two in each of his first two seasons.
Being disgruntled, and missing time with the offense, won’t help Cook make another splash in 2025.
The situation remains worth monitoring, especially if he extends his holdout into the season.
Other Winners & Losers
RB Ray Davis remains one of our favorite values late in drafts currently.
Not only does David hold standalone value, but if Cook decides to hold out into the season (or proves ineffective with his lack of practicing).
Target Davis late in drafts before his ADP starts to increase.
