49ers RB Isaac Guerendo is expected to miss "a few weeks" with a shoulder injury suffered in training camp, HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday. We're about a month away from the start of the regular season, so it sounds like Guerendo has a chance to be ready for Week 1. But we'll keep tabs on his status.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Guerendo has been the leader in the clubhouse to open the season as San Francisco's No. 2 RB after flashing as a rookie last year. He averaged 5.0 yards per carry and 10.1 yards per catch. And in four games with a snap rate north of 50%, he posted:
- 102 total yards and a score
- 128 total yards and two TDs
- 75 total yards
- 99 total yards
But this injury creates an opportunity for San Francisco's other backs to gain ground on Guerendo. Fifth-round rookie Jordan James looks like the biggest threat. He missed a few days recently with a knee injury but returned to practice on Monday.
We'll continue to keep a close eye on the situation. The 49ers' No. 2 RB has plenty of handcuff appeal, but fantasy drafters have been a little too certain that Guerendo will be that guy.
Other Winners & Losers
The uncertainty down the depth chart can't be bad news for RB Christian McCaffrey, who figures to be as busy as ever for as long as he's healthy this season.
