ESPN's Jordan Raanan said on SiriusXM that there's "no competition" in the Giants backfield. "It's 100% Tyrone Tracy," according to Raanan.
What They're Saying
More from Raanan: "Cam Skattebo hasn't even received a lot of the first-team reps even when he was healthy. He got a handful here and there. ... There is no competition. ... I think [Skattebo] was gonna be sort of a complementary piece. Tyrone Tracy is gonna be the starting RB. He's gonna get the majority of the carries. ... I think [Skattebo's] role probably would have been as a third-down, passing-type back."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Things can always change over the course of the season. But this is pretty definitive from a trusted Giants beat writer.
Tracy, at minimum, now projects as the top early-season fantasy option in New York's backfield. And he should be drafted well ahead of Skattebo, who remains sidelined with an undisclosed injury.
We saw Tracy in a clear lead role ahead of RB Devin Singletary from Week 7 on last year. Tracy averaged 13.2 carries and 3.5 targets over the final 11 games, ranking 23rd among RBs in PPR points per game. He's capable of providing low-end RB2 value again this season, even if he does lose some passing-down work to Skattebo, as Raanan suggests.
