According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Vikings WR Jordan Addison has been suspended for the first three games of the 2025 season for violating the league’s Substance Abuse Policy.
What They're Saying
Schefter: “Discipline: NFL suspended Vikings WR Jordan Addison for the first three games of the 2025 regular season for violating the league’s Substances of Abuse Policy. Addison will now miss games at Chicago, vs the Falcons and vs the Bengals.”
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Minnesota was reportedly anticipating a three-game suspension and that’s exactly what it’ll be. The Vikings will have to find explosive plays elsewhere to open the year.
Addison’s deep receiving ranks in 2024:
- 23 targets (10th)
- 409 receiving yards (7th)
- 27.3 yards per game (4th)
- 3 TDs (11th)
We know WR Justin Jefferson is going to dominate targets regardless. But perhaps an early-season absence from Addison can break a tie between him and WR CeeDee Lamb in fantasy ranks. The real beneficiaries here, however, are TE TJ Hockenson, WR Jalen Nailor, and RB Aaron Jones.
Addison missed Weeks 2 and 3 of the 2024 campaign. Nailor did find the end zone in both contests, though it is worth pointing out that Hockenson was still sidelined then. We can safely project Hockenson to rank second on the team in targets behind Jefferson, but don’t sleep on Jones. He may be splitting carries with RB Jordan Mason, but the pass game usage should still belong to him. And in games without Addison last year, Jones averaged 6.0 targets, 5.0 receptions, 41 receiving yards and 18.8 PPR points per game.
With this news, Addison is moving down the rankings a bit, while Jefferson and Hockenson will see slight bumps. Nailor, meanwhile, becomes a viable late-round selection in best ball formats and a potential value play in early-season DFS contests.
