Bills HC Sean McDermott said Thursday that the team's medical staff believes WR Khalil Shakir is on pace to be ready for Week 1. He's working his way back from a high-ankle sprain suffered on August 2.

High-ankle sprains tend to sideline guys for 3-5 weeks, depending on the severity. Shakir will have had a little over five weeks to heal between his injury and Buffalo's season opener on September 7, so we're buying that he'll be out there.
The issue is that this injury has a tendency to sap players' explosiveness and change-of-direction well beyond that initial timetable. We'll keep a close eye on Shakir over the next month, but he'll likely be a risky Week 1 fantasy start.
