Titans WR Calvin Ridley hauled in all three of his targets for 50 yards in Tennessee’s Week 1 preseason contest against the Buccaneers on Saturday. His rapport with rookie QB Cam Ward continues to grow, an encouraging sign for both the Tennessee offense and fantasy football drafters.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
There was zero doubt who Ward’s top target would be throughout his rookie season. Still, seeing him look Ridley’s way early and often in live action is exciting. On just eight dropbacks on Saturday, Ward targeted Ridley three times, connecting on gains of 27, 10, and 13 yards.
Downfield usage is nothing new for Ridley; he dominated that department a season ago. Ridley accounted for a whopping 44.1% of Tennessee’s air yards last year, the highest rate in the NFL. His 110.8 air yards per game were also the most in football. Given the Titans’ WR room, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him lead the league in both categories again -- this time with a QB upgrade.
Ward should easily be an improvement over QB Will Levis, which should help Ridley build on his WR36 finish in PPR points per game (11.7). But if Ward is really good, the veteran WR will have top-24 fantasy upside in 2025.
