Broncos WR Marvin Mims started opposite WR Courtland Sutton in Saturday’s preseason contest against the San Francisco 49ers.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Sutton is entrenched as Denver’s clear WR1, but the WR2 role has been up for grabs during training camp. Mims getting the start over WRs Troy Franklin, Devaughn Vele and Pat Bryant–and leaving the game while the others stayed in–is a good sign that the Broncos are going to give him a look. And considering Mims was Denver's first draft pick in the Sean Payton era, it would make sense to see what he can do in a larger role.
Mims has been a part-time player during his first two seasons in the NFL, logging 27% and 36% of the offensive snaps. We did finally see, however, a bump in usage for him during the second half of last season. From Week 10 on, Mims averaged 4.6 targets, 4.0 receptions, 55.9 receiving yards, 1.5 carries and 14.4 PPR points per game. And in Denver’s most important game of the year–a playoff game against the Bills– Mims logged a career-high 69% of the snaps.
If the Broncos offense was still dormant, Mims would be an easy player to avoid in fantasy leagues. But now that sophomore QB Bo Nix has awakened this unit, consider Mims the deepest of sleepers in an ascending Denver offense.
