Packers RB MarShawn Lloyd suffered a hamstring injury in Friday night's preseason game against the Colts. HC Matt LaFleur told reporters Sunday that Lloyd is "going to miss some time." The latest ding came shortly after Lloyd returned from a late July groin injury.
What They're Saying
Lloyd early in the week on his return: "It feels really good. Now I'm just stacking days. Just enjoying football. ... I'm excited to play against another team. Just have fun and showcase what I can do."
SI.com's Bill Huber: "There is hope that Lloyd can be back by Week 1, as his injury was described as not severe. However, it’s yet another setback for a player who has been unable to get any sustained time on the field."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Lloyd's nonstop health issues are obviously frustrating for fantasy managers. But imagine how it feels to be both good at football and made of papier-mâché.
This year's early issues follow this spate from last year:
- hip
- hamstring
- ankle
- appendix
Lloyd rushed six times for just 15 yards but caught a 33-yard pass before leaving Friday's exhibition. We'll see how long he winds up missing, but LaFleur's blunt words obviously aren't encouraging.
That it's a hamstring seems especially worrisome. First, it marks his second straight summer with hamstring trouble. Second, hamstring injury avoidance has been a specific focus of several recent Packers, starting with Christian Watson's 2024 offseason testing at the University of Wisconsin's School of Medicine and Public Health. Lloyd pursued the same program this offseason.
We'll see how he progresses from this latest setback.
Other Winners & Losers
Emanuel Wilson gets a boost in his pursuit of the No. 2 RB job, which he held for Lloyd's rookie season.
Wilson played well, including an average of 4.9 yards per rush on 103 carries.
He and Lloyd fit as end-of-draft considerations.
