It's been an up-and-down training camp for Bears QB Caleb Williams so far. But he was sharp in Sunday's preseason game vs. the Bills, completing 6 of 10 passes for 107 yards and a score on two possessions. Williams was not sacked on any of his 10 dropbacks.
What They're Saying
HC Ben Johnson after the game: "He's really been locked in. Anytime you're a young player, there's usually a couple steps forward and one step back and that's really been the story of his training camp. He and I have been really open and honest about that as we've gone through. He's had some really good practices, and he's had a couple where it's like, 'That isn't good enough, bud.' I thought really the three days of practice we had this week and this game were the most he's stacked up good days in a row right now. The challenge is going to be to keep pushing in that direction."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Johnson has had Williams drinking from a firehouse this offseason. The young QB was drowning early but has seemingly found some air now. Williams looked comfortable and decisive vs. Buffalo. And Johnson's scheme was working guys open for run-after-catch opportunities.
It was a glimpse at the upside this passing game possesses with a talented QB, sharp player caller, and upgraded supporting cast.
Projected ADP Movement
Williams' ADP was sitting well inside the top-12 QBs for much of draft season. But the negative reports out of camp have pushed him down to a QB14 and 10th-round price tag. He's an enticing value at that point. We'll see if the strong preseason outing inflates the price again.
