49ers’ second-string RB Isaac Guerendo returned to practice on Tuesday, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN. Guerendo had been sidelined for multiple weeks with a shoulder injury.

The revolving door that is San Francisco’s backfield spins on.
Rookie RB Jordan James is still recovering from a broken finger, while familiar face Patrick Taylor (shoulder) was just placed on season-ending injured reserve. With RB Jordan Mason now in Minnesota, that leaves San Francisco with only one clear option behind the oft-injured Christian McCaffrey: Isaac Guerendo.
Guerendo is well aware of the value of that role. Just last year, he logged at least 50% of the snaps in four games. During those contests, he averaged 16.8 touches, 101 scrimmage yards and 17.8 PPR points per game. He posted fantasy finishes of RB10, RB2, RB24 and RB11 in those outings.
As long as he is healthy, Guerendo will remain the direct backup to McCaffrey, and a high-upside insurance policy for fantasy drafters.
