WR Devaughn Vele has been traded to the New Orleans Saints, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
According to Schefter, the Broncos will receive a fourth-round pick in 2026 and a seventh-rounder in 2027.
Vele mostly operated as Denver’s WR2 last season, hauling in 41-of-55 targets for 475 yards and 3 TDs. He operated out of the slot over 61% of the time for the Broncos last season and will now compete for the WR3 role in New Orleans behind Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.
But this trade is far more intriguing from the Broncos’ perspective.
WR Courtland Sutton is entrenched as the clear alpha in this passing attack, but the WR2 job is up for grabs. Marvin Mims Jr. operated as such during Denver’s first preseason game, starting opposite Sutton and leaving the game once he and QB Bo Nix did. However, rookie Pat Bryant has been drawing rave reviews in camp, though Troy Franklin is still slightly ahead of him on the depth chart.
All three WRs -- Mims, Bryant, and Franklin -- are worth considering in the late rounds in best ball formats, as well as some deeper redraft leagues. We finally saw glimpses of what Mims could do in a somewhat full-time role during the second half of last season. From Week 10 on, Mims averaged 4.6 targets, 4.0 receptions, 55.9 receiving yards, 1.5 carries and 14.4 PPR points per game.
The WR2 in an ascending Denver offense is a coveted position, and one that is far from set in stone.
