Jets rookie TE Mason Taylor is expected to play a major role on offense this season, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.
What They're Saying
Cimini: “He [Taylor] will have a major role on offense. The coaches view him as a true two-way tight end and believe his blocking is better than advertised. Taylor is healthy after missing more than a week with a high-ankle sprain.”
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
The Jets severely lack a consistent playmaker in the passing game beyond WR Garrett Wilson, giving Taylor every opportunity to emerge as a fantasy relevant option, even as a rookie. Outside of Wilson, his main competition for targets are WRs Allen Lazard and Josh Reynolds, as well as the RBs.
Although we have recently been spoiled by historic seasons from Brock Bowers and Sam LaPorta, rookie tight ends rarely become solid fantasy starters, let alone elite ones. And Taylor is still so young, having just turned 21 in May. But there is a path to upwards of 80 targets right out of the gate, making Taylor a fine late-round target, especially in deeper formats.
