Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers has requested a trade, according to NFL Network. He's entering the final year of his contract, set to make $10.5 million in 2025. The team has no desire to trade its No. 1 WR, per NFL Network.
What They're Saying
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport: "The team, citing his value, said they had no plans to [trade him]. Meyers and the team attempted to negotiate a new contract, but could not come to terms."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Meyers is certainly due for a raise, considering he's making less this year than guys like Rashod Bateman and Darius Slayton. Meyers is coming off an 87-catch season and has 158 receptions across his two seasons with the Raiders. Only 15 WRs have more total catches over the last two years. And it's seemed all offseason that the new coaching staff has big plans for Meyers this season.
At the same time, Meyers isn't a true difference-maker at the position. So we can understand the Raiders not wanting to give him a big extension, especially with TE Brock Bowers as the team's top target.
We'll see where this goes. But the squabble coming this close to the regular season certainly adds some risk to Meyers' fantasy profile.
