Dolphins’ RB Jaylen Wright is not expected to play Week 1, according to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN. Wright suffered a leg injury during joint practice and remains week-to-week.
What They're Saying
Louis-Jacques: “Mike McDaniel doesn’t expect Dolphins RB Jaylen Wright to be available for Week 1 but doesn’t expect an extended absence.”
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Wright already had rookie RB Ollie Gordon in his rearview mirror, and now he’s unlikely to suit up for the season opener in Indianapolis.
With Wright sidelined and veteran RB Alexander Mattison out for the season, Gordon is set to open the season as the backup to De’Von Achane, who should be ready for Week 1. Gordon has impressed this preseason, averaging 4.8 YPC on 26 preseason totes.
Achane averaged 16.5 touches per game last season, 22nd among RBs, leaving room for a complimentary role in Miami’s backfield. For context, Raheem Mostert averaged nearly 10 touches per game last season, while Achane averaged 11.8 touches per game during his rookie season in 2022.
Because Achane is drafted in 100% of fantasy leagues, so should Gordon. But in any league he isn’t drafted, don’t be surprised if he’s the most-added player in all formats following Week 1.
