Bengals, Trey Hendrickson Compromise

The Bengals have agreed to boost Edge Trey Hendrickson's contract for 2025, ending the veteran's "hold in" ahead of the season. Hendrickson, of course, has sought a contract extension -- and, at times, a trade -- for the past few years. This solution gets him more money ($14 million, reportedly) without making the Bengals responsible for any more beyond this year. Hendrickson turns 31 on Dec. 5.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
It's fair to wonder why this particular solution didn't arrive sooner, but perhaps one side finally decided it couldn't do better and settled.
There should be no real impact for this season. I've expected Hendrickson to take the field for Week 1 all along and never altered his position in the IDP rankings. I suppose it's nice to make that official.
Hendrickson racked up 17.5 sacks each of the past two years and should remain a strong option for fantasy leagues with sack-friendly scoring.
Dynasty Impact
The one-year solution gets a little more interesting here. It says the Bengals still believe in Hendrickson for 2025 but suggests they were worried about committing to him beyond this year.
That's fair. I'd still expect Hendrickson to land another gig in free agency. But he'll also be at an age that has historically seen production well below a player's scoring peak, according to the aging-curve research we use in our dynasty rankings.
