The Browns are sending QB Kenny Pickett to the Raiders for a fifth-round pick, according to multiple sources. That recoups the pick Cleveland sent to the Eagles to acquire Pickett earlier this offseason.
What They're Saying
ESPN's Adam Schefter: "With Kenny Pickett being traded to Las Vegas, Joe Flacco continues as the Browns’ starting QB and his backups are two rookies, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Cleveland clearly had too many QBs and was bound to unload one, no matter how many times GM Andrew Berry tried to pretend they'd keep four. Frankly, it's impressive the Browns managed to get the same level of pick back.
As Schefter said, Pickett figures to back up Geno Smith in the wake of Aidan O'Connell's injury. And the trade price indicates he could spend the full season as Vegas' No. 2.
The Raiders, of course, hope Smith will stay healthy and that won't matter.
The Browns appear likely to run Gabriel as the No. 2 QB behind Flacco, with Sanders as the third (and thus likely inactive on game days).
Dynasty Impact
Pickett's departure helps the path for Gabriel and/or Sanders to find the field early, thus improving the dynasty outlook for either at least a tad.
Sanders still seems to be much more popular publicly than with his own team, though. If that presents a dynasty "sell" opportunity, take advantage.
