The Dallas Cowboys listed Javonte Williams as the starting RB on their first depth chart of the season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Miles Sanders was listed as RB2, with rookie Jaydon Blue as RB3.
No surprise here, as Williams was the healthiest and most consistent Dallas RB throughout camp.
However, if there’s one backfield that is far from set in stone, it’s the Cowboys’.
Williams will open the season with usage that warrants FLEX consideration in lineups, but it may be short-lived. This depth chart reveal presents a potential buying opportunity for Blue, whose ADP could dip.
The rookie has the speed and pass-catching prowess that Williams and Sanders lack. His 11.3% college target share was in the 86th percentile last season, and he hauled in an impressive 42 passes. Blue’s pass game chops could suddenly matter more, with Dallas’ trade of Micah Parsons potentially ushering in more pass-heavy game scripts.
Expect Williams to start the year as the lead RB in Dallas, but it feels like only a matter of time before Blue earns more work.
