The Athletic's Mike DeFabo predicts that Steelers WR D.K. Metcalf will catch 10+ TDs this season. It's part of a "bold predictions" column, but it's certainly within the realm of possibilities for Metcalf.
What They're Saying
DeFabo: "[QB Aaron] Rodgers still has the lightning-quick release to throw the ball into tight windows, especially near the goal line. Metcalf’s 6-foot-4, 230-pound frame and physical playing style has helped him beat defensive backs on slants, outs and other quick hitters. The fact that the Steelers don’t have a clear-cut No. 2 receiver also helps Metcalf’s cause."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Only seven WRs hit double-digit scores last year, so Metcalf would be a strong value in fantasy drafts if he does it this year. We currently project him for 8.1 TDs, but there's a path to 10+.
Rodgers and Metcalf have both been prolific TD scorers. Rodgers' career 6.1% passing TD rate ranks second among all QBs with 1,000+ career attempts since the 1970 merger. Metcalf, meanwhile, has averaged 8.0 TDs per season on an 11% TD rate for his career.
There are concerns about overall passing volume in Pittsburgh under OC Arthur Smith. But Metcalf will be featured when the Steelers get into scoring territory.
He checks in as a slightly positive value at his early-fifth-round price tag, according to ADP Market Index.
