If you thought Micah Parsons was using his "back injury" as a fake cover for his Dallas hold-in, then you were apparently mistaken. The new Packers edge is dealing with an L4/L5 facet joint sprain that's challenging his readiness for Sunday's game against the Lions. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Parsons may seek an epidural shot to be able to play in the game. Parsons reportedly practiced in limited fashion Monday. There's no official injury report for the day. Those will start Wednesday.
What They're Saying
ESPN's Rob Demovsky: "There was added energy to practice and an increased buzz in the locker room on Monday. Shortly after the trade made news, left tackle Rasheed Walker -- a college teammate with Parsons at Penn State -- posted on social media that the Packers were going to win the Super Bowl now. Walker said he expects Parsons to increase his workload in practice as the week goes on."
Walker: "He had a couple reps, but he said he's going to be more full-go Wednesday and Thursday. So, he's going to have to come see me."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Parsons sure seems like he's trying to be ready for Sunday's game. We'll see how this week progresses and whether we get any signals on just how big his role will be after a totally inactive August.
Parsons will be tougher to trust in IDP lineups this week -- because of that factor -- than other weeks going forward. That said, if Parsons appears headed for full playing time, then we kinda need to put him into our lineups.
If you haven't drafted yet, this doesn't look like an issue that should keep you from selecting Parsons. As for Week 1, we'll keep watching his practice week and update his outlook in kind.
