Eagles DT Jalen Carter got ejected before the first offensive snap of Thursday night's game against the Cowboys after he spit on QB Dak Prescott. Carter approached the Dallas huddle to apparently talk some trash, Prescott stepped forward, and the camera caught Carter spitting on the QB's jersey.

It doesn't get a whole lot stupider than this, folks. This wasn't even a heat-of-the-moment, out-of-control reaction amid a fight. The chatter looked pretty tame, and the infraction was easy to see, right in front of an official.
Carter's absence undoubtedly helped the Cowboys march quickly down the field, finding the end zone on a 1-yard Javonte Williams rush.
The third-year DT is important to both the run defense and the pass rush. His 16 QB hits led the team last year.
We'll see whether Carter faces any further discipline from the league. And we'll see whether Williams -- and/or Miles Sanders -- can take advantage of his absence on the ground.
Moro Ojomo and Jordan Davis are Philly's Nos. 2 and 3 guys at the position. We'll see this year whether Davis can deliver on the promise that made him a first-round pick in 2022 but has mostly eluded him through three NFL seasons.
