NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy suffered a dislocated shoulder in Friday night's loss to the Chargers and is still seeking a second opinion on how to proceed. It's not yet clear how much time Worthy will miss.
What They're Saying
Rapoport: "I'm told the most likely option is for him to be able to brace it up and return this season. However, tests pending and surgery is still as of right now an option."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
"Return this season" doesn't make it sound like even that better outlook would put Worthy back on the field soon.
We should get a clearer outlook on the wideout's diagnosis and return timeline over the next couple of days. But you should definitely plan to miss Worthy for multiple weeks as you plot waiver moves and/or potential trades heading into Week 2.
The Chiefs deployed Marquise Brown (93% playing time), JuJu Smith-Schuster (80%), and Tyquan Thornton (72%) as their top three WRs against the Chargers, with Worthy leaving early, Rashee Rice suspended, and rookie Jalen Royals out.
A healthy Royals could crack that top three, but the upside hit this group has taken will impact QB Patrick Mahomes.
TE Travis Kelce should also be a safer bet for targets over the next few weeks than he previously appeared. And we might even see a bit more of TE Noah Gray (just one catch in the opener).
