David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs saw a near-even split in rushing attempts in Sunday's lopsided victory over the Bears. Gibbs rushed 12 times for 94 yards (7.8 per carry) and a TD, including a 42-yard scamper in the third quarter. Montgomery handled 11 carries for 57 yards (5.2 per rush) and a TD. Both rushing scores came in the first quarter, Gibbs' from 6 yards out to close the first drive and Montgomery's from a yard out late in the quarter. Gibbs added 3 catches for 10 yards on three targets. Montgomery caught his long target for 4 yards.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Playing from ahead nearly the whole game certainly helped the team's rushing volume. The RBs split work throughout, with Gibbs carrying seven times to Montgomery's five in the first half.
Montgomery particular benefits from the leading game scripts as the less frequent receiver between the two RBs.
A Week 3 visit to Baltimore will find Detroit an underdog and present a much tougher spot for Montgomery. Expect him to land outside our top 24 RBs across formats for that one. (Gibbs will be an every-week starter for just about any fantasy team that has him).
A Week 4 home date with the Browns should prove more attractive for both RBs, followed by a non-scary trip to Cincinnati in Week 5.
