Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. was benched in the fourth quarter of Atlanta's 30-0 loss in Carolina. Kirk Cousins relieved Penix and finished the game in mop-up duties. The Falcons were 3.5-point favorites, but were never really in the game.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
It was an awful day at the office for Penix and the Atlanta offense.
Penix completed only 18 of 36 passes for 172 yards, 0 TDs and a pair of interceptions. The first INT was a third-quarter pick-six that gave Carolina a commanding 20-0 lead. His second INT came in the fourth quarter, ending his day with a woeful 40.5 QB Rating.
Atlanta out-gained Carolina 332-224 but was never really in the game. The Falcons had three turnovers on the day and were 5-for-13 on third downs and 0-3 on fourth-down attempts.
Penix looked off all day, failing to complete passes downfield and settling for innocuous passes at or behind the line of scrimmage. This is the second game in a row that Penix has struggled after a strong showing.
He'll try to get back on track next week as the Falcons host the Commanders, but Penix can't be trusted any fantasy lineups.
