Despite leading the team in targets (7) and receiving yards (49), Jacksonville Jaguars' WR Brian Thomas Jr. failed to hit double-digit PPR points for the fourth consecutive week. Thomas scored 11-plus PPR points in 13 of his 17 games as a rookie, but is off to a miserable start in Liam Coen's new offense. Thomas entered Week 4 outside of the top 50 scoring fantasy WRs, which is one of the most surprising -- and disappointing -- starts to the 2025 season. Particularly for a Jacksonville squad that is off to a 3-1 start.
What They're Saying
"He was great all game," HC Liam Coen said about Thomas in the team's post game press conference. "Brian caught the ball well, obviously, made some plays. I was very please with B.T."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Coen may have praised Thomas's efforts in Jacksonville's victory, but fantasy managers can't be happy to have some middling production from a player they used a first or second-round pick to select.
Thomas has been held under 60 receiving yards in all four games and has failed to score a TD in three consecutive contests. Thomas has struggled with drops. After posting a 4.6% drop rate as a rookie, Thomas entered Week 4 with a 12.5% drop rate.
Additionally, Thomas's efficiency has plummeted. He ranked sixth among all WRs in 2024 with a healthy 2.45 yards per route run. In 2025, Thomas's 1.04 yards per route run ranked 68th out of 86 WRs with 10-plus targets through 3 games.
Jacksonville QBs earned a 109.4 QB Rating when they targeted Thomas in 2024. This year, Trevor Lawrence has a 29.7 QB Rating when he's targeted Thomas.
It's difficult to pinpoint what the biggest factor in his decline is, but it is getting difficult for fantasy managers to continue to insert him into lineups for fear of missing out on a potential 'get right' game.
Rather than viewing Thomas as a weekly must-start WR, he should be viewed as a middling flex option until we see definitive signs that his struggles are in the past.
And from the look of things, that may be a while.
