You should be celebrating the 2-TD fantasy line that Eagles TE Dallas Goedert gave you if he landed in your Week 4 starting lineup. But don't overrate the performance as you decide how to play next week and beyond. Each of Goedert's scoring catches came on a shovel pass -- from 2 and 5 yards out -- in the first half. The whole Philly passing game went quiet in the second half, as QB Jalen Hurts completed none of his eight pass attempts. Overall, Goedert caught all four of his targets for a team-high 37 yards.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
There's no negative takeaway from Goedert's helpful fantasy outing. His playing time fell a bit vs. usual, but that likely came totally from Goedert leaving for a stretch after taking a shot to the hip. He returned before the end of the game.
Goedert also continued to easily lead Eagles TEs in routes, trailing A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith by just six (31-25).
The tight end has caught 12 of his 13 targets over his three games, making Goedert a relative bright spot in a struggling pass offense.
It's worth noting that Goedert's yards after catch per reception sit at a career-low 3.0, according to Pro Football Reference, less than half of last year's average (6.1).
The TE's average target depth (6.5 yards) falls in line with last year, though his yards before catch per reception (6.5) sit at their highest level since 2021.
That could account for some of the post-catch lag, but this also looks like a potential symptom of the general passing issues in Philly. We'll see how the Eagles work to improve that area under first-year OC Kevin Patullo.
Goedert, meanwhile, remains a solid option around the bottom of TE1 territory. Just don't overrate his lineup viability off the 2-TD game. And we'll see whether the hip lands him on the Week 5 injury report.
