The Browns are expected to start QB Dillon Gabriel vs. the Vikings this weekend, according to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz. QB Joe Flacco has been worse than expected through four weeks, ranking dead last among 33 qualifying QBs in completion rate (58.1%), yards per attempt (5.1), and passer rating (60.3). The Browns are averaging 14 points per game -- ahead of only the Titans.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
The spot couldn't get much tougher for Gabriel's first start. He'll travel to London to face a Vikings squad that ranks first in both pass defense DVOA and adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs. Gabriel isn't even a recommended QB2 play this week.
There probably isn't much long-term fantasy upside here, either. Gabriel is undersized with below-average arm strength and middling athleticism. He wins with anticipation and accuracy. But he's taking over a Browns offense that ranks 30th in Pro Football Focus blocking grade and 32nd in receiving grade. Cleveland also just lost WR Cedric Tillman for at least the next four games.
Other Winners & Losers
Flacco ranks 24th league-wide with a 7.5-yard average throw depth. That could sink even lower with Gabriel under center.
That's potentially good news for TEs Harold Fannin and David Njoku, who both carry average target depths under 7 yards. But we're not any more excited about the upside on these TEs than we were with Flacco.
WR Jerry Jeudy and his 14.6-yard aDOT could take a hit with Gabriel.
