49ers WR Kendrick Bourne exploded for 10 catches and 142 yards in Thursday night's overtime win vs. the Rams. His 11 targets tied for the team lead and were a 22.4% share. Bourne consistently created separation on short and intermediate routes and was clearly QB Mac Jones' most trusted WR on a night when Ricky Pearsall, Jauan Jennings, and Brandon Aiyuk were all out. Jones and Bourne played together in New England from 2021 to 2023, and they clearly still have chemistry.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Fantasy teams forced to start Bourne for injury or bye-week reasons cashed out big time in this one. But will Bourne be a fantasy factor going forward?
He's always been an underrated talent, sporting a career 8.7 yards per target. If pressed into heavy snaps again, he'd certainly be an intriguing fantasy play.
But NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said before Thursday night's game that WRs Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings and TE George Kittle all have a good chance to return for Week 6. Bourne would need at least one of those guys -- and probably two -- to remain out to be a bankable fantasy play.
He's worth stashing if you have a bench spot to play with while we wait to see if those other guys make it back for Week 6. But don't assume you'll have him as a starter next week.
