Chargers RB Hassan Haskins is expected to be the lead RB today for the Chargers per Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network. Kimani Vidal will still be getting some action, but Garafalo indicated that Haskins will lead the backfield. With news of Omarion Hampton missing more than four weeks, the Chargers are expected to be in the market to trade for an RB as well, so there could be more additions to the backfield in the future.
Benching all of the Chargers RBs likely remains the best option.
If Haskins is the lead RB, he may get a handful of carries and snaps over Vidal, but Vidal should handle the pass catching duties. Veteran Nyheim Hines may also sprinkle in some snaps and a few touches.
As of now, it is a situation to stay away from.
We will see the future impact of the backfield. If Haskins and Vidal prove to be a tandem that can carry the load, the Chargers may opt to stick with what they have. But, Garafalo indicated that the Chargers have already been inquiring to trade possibilities with other teams for a short term RB solution.
Hampton is expected to return at some point this season.
