Jaguars RB Travis Etienne Jr. ran for a season-low 27 yards in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. He averaged just 2.3 yards across 12 carries but did help his PPR line with 4 receptions for 28 yards among five targets. This marked Etienne's second straight week with just 12 carries and setting a season-low in rushing yardage. That would be more worrisome if not for a couple of key factors.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
First of all, Etienne faced a Seattle defense that entered Sunday ranked second in the league in rush DVOA. The Seahawks limited RBs to just 3.15 yards per carry across the first five weeks, with Christian McCaffrey (22-69 in Week 1) the only guy to reach 50 yards on them.
The game flow also didn't help Etienne's carry count. He got the ball seven times in the first half (for just 6 yards), but his team went down by a TD just before halftime. And then Seattle extended the lead to 14 just 5 minutes into the second half.
Etienne didn't register more than one carry on any possession after that point. And he's still averaging 5.3 yards per rush for the season.
The biggest reason to not worry too much about Etienne's Week 6 is that he still dominated backfield time. He played 45 snaps, according to Pro Football Focus, vs. just 18 for LeQuint Allen and 11 for Bhayshul Tuten.
Etienne ran 25 routes to Allen's 12 and Tuten's seven. And the other two RBs combined for merely three carries.
As long as Etienne maintains that role, he'll be startable. Week 7 holds another potentially challenging matchup, though, in a Rams D that entered Week 6 ranked 10th in rush DVOA.
The Rams did, however, allow Derrick Henry a 24-122 rushing day while beating the Ravens on Sunday. So it'll be a better spot for Etienne than the Seattle matchup.
