Sunday turned up the Chargers' first game without rookie RB Omarion Hampton. The result? Kimani Vidal seized control of the backfield with 124 rushing yards on 18 attempts, chipping in with 3 grabs, 14 yards, and 1 receiving score. Meanwhile, Hassan Haskins gained only 14 yards on six attempts and caught his only target for 9 yards.
What They're Saying
Vidal said he wasn't sure about his Week 6 role (via the Chargers official site):
"I didn't know exactly the opportunities that were going to come...I knew there was a good chance I was going to play a good bit...I was just trying to give it my all every opportunity."
Here's QB Justin Herbert: "It was awesome to see," Herbert said after the win over Miami. "He had a great year last year, he stepped up, some big time plays last year. That's what we're expecting from him. He's done such a great job of listening and understanding what we're asking of him. He took the most of it today and it's awesome to see that he took the best of opportunity."
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Let’s start with the matchup. Miami entered as one of the league’s most generous run defenses, so Vidal’s big game doesn’t mean he’ll look this way moving forward.
But consider this, too. The Chargers were without several starters up front, including LT Joe Alt. And still, Vidal was able to generate gains of 19, 27, and 38 yards. The 38-yarder came on a 3rd-and-1 run over the edge, one that was met with little resistance.
Vidal’s lone score came on a play-action pass to the flat. On the day, he topped Haskins in route rate (54% to 21%) and target share (11% to 3%). Nyhiem Hines – activated just days ago – played only 2% of the offensive snaps while logging special teams work.
Vidal projects for lead back work in Week 7 vs. a Colts team that's done well to limit RB production. RB2 value is still within range for that one, while Haskins can be dropped in shallow formats.
