IDP Waiver Wire Pickups: Week 14
LB Returns, Plus Upside Edge Players
This list of IDP waiver wire pickups is sorted by position, and then by priorty.
Of course, IDP leagues vary widely by depth, scoring rules, and lineup settings. So to get the best measure of who to pick up in your league, check your Free Agent Finder.
It's the best fantasy football waiver wire assistant you'll find.
Leonard Floyd, Edge, San Francisco 49ers
Floyd had a quiet Week 13 in tough pass-rushing conditions and a bad sack matchup. But he delivered 3.5 sacks among 5 total QB hits over the previous two games.
There probably won’t be much snow in San Francisco in Week 14. And there definitely won’t be any Josh Allen in the Bears’ backfield.
But there will be a Chicago offense that has allowed 3+ sacks to five straight opponents. That included 5 sacks by the Lions on Thanksgiving.
Floyd will also make sense for sack-friendly formats the following two weeks against the Rams and Dolphins.
Alex Highsmith, Edge, Pittsburgh Steelers
Highsmith didn’t make it back for Sunday’s game against the Bengals, sitting out his third straight contest with an ankle injury. But he did manage limited practices Thursday and Friday.
If he proves ready for Week 14, then Highsmith will return for a Browns offense that remains the top scoring matchup for fantasy D-linemen. Consider stashing him early – where available – while we wait to see.
Whenever he returns, Highsmith will also be worth holding for a Week 17 home date with Kansas City. Patrick Mahomes has taken 5 sacks in two straight games and 4+ sacks in four of his past five.
YaYa Diaby, Edge, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Diaby doesn’t have a sack since Week 7, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been getting pressure.
The second-year man has delivered 5 QB hits over just the past two games and at least 1 in five of his past six contests.
Now comes a matchup with the Raiders amid one of the league’s best remaining schedules for DL production. Diaby looks like a solid low-DL2 (with upside) for three of the next four weeks. (I’d lean away from him for the Chargers matchup in Week 15.)
It doesn’t hurt that Diaby has set season highs for snap share each of the past two games: 80% and 93%.
Matt Milano, LB, Buffalo Bills
Milano managed just 5 total tackles in his first action of the season Sunday night, but he got limited opportunity. San Francisco managed just 38 combined rushes and completions in a one-sided loss.
But Milano garnered 77% playing time after missing the first 11 contests while recovering from a torn biceps. He knocked fill-in Dorian Williams completely out of the lineup.
Don’t be surprised if that snap share picks up even further over the next few weeks, especially with Milano presenting the best coverage skills among Buffalo LBs.
This week’s visit to the Rams has a chance to showcase that area.
Ugo Amadi, DB, New Orleans Saints
Amadi has delivered 8+ total tackles in three straight games while filling in at CB and safety. That versatility should keep Amadi involved as New Orleans navigates myriad injuries in the secondary.
Week 14 brings a Giants offense that has proved second-most friendly among DB scoring matchups.
Elijah Molden, DB, Los Angeles Chargers
Molden has been a regular in the defensive lineup nearly all season, operating primarily as a third safety. He hovered in the 80-90% playing time range for the most part, though, until Sunday’s win over the Falcons.
With S Alohi Gilman gone to IR, Molden played every snap for the first time since Week 2. He tallied 6 tackles (5 solos, 1 tackle for loss) and a pass breakup.
Gilman’s absence should keep Molden on the field full time through at least three more games. The first finds a Chiefs offense that has gotten more friendly to DB scoring, yielding the sixth-most points per game to DBs over the past five weeks.
