Brian Robinson Out, Jacory Croskey-Merritt In For Washington?

Robinson is a fine runner -- but no better than that. Among 60 RBs with 200+ carries over the last three seasons, Robinson ranks:

• 46th in yards per carry
• 33rd in yards after contact per attempt
• 30th in broken tackles per attempt

We wouldn't expect Robinson to draw a ton of interest on the trade market, although there are certainly teams (Cowboys, Texans, Bears?) that could use him.

We'll see where this goes over the next few weeks, but Robinson's fantasy stock looks more volatile now than it did prior to this report. A landing spot like Dallas would boost his value. But there are plenty of other spots that would hurt it.

Other Winners & Losers

RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt likely played into Washington's decision to shop Robinson. The rookie has been buzzing since the spring and looks capable of making an immediate impact. A Robinson trade could suddenly make Croskey-Merritt the favorite to lead Commanders RBs in carries. 30-year-old Austin Ekeler is unlikely to handle a big rushing role at this point. Jeremy McNichols and Chris Rodriguez are replacement-level talents.

Highlight Croskey-Merritt as a late-round target in fantasy drafts. A Robinson trade would vault him up the rankings and ADP. And even if Robinson isn't deal, Croskey-Merritt is one injury away -- to Robinson or Ekeler -- from a significant role in a high-scoring offense.
