Chargers RB Kimani Vidal went over 100 rushing yards in Week 7 for the second time in his last three games. The first came against a Dolphins run defense that gets smoked every week. Vidal's 117-yard outing vs. the Vikings on Thursday night was more impressive. He was largely bottled up in the first half, mustering just 24 yards on 11 carries -- although one of those went for a three-yard score. Vidal got rolling in the second half, though, with the Chargers nursing a big lead and Minnesota's defense not looking particularly interested in tackling. Vidal carried another 12 times for 93 yards over the final 30 minutes, including four runs of 10+ yards.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Vidal dominated backfield work in this one with Hassan Haskins out. He played 74% of the Chargers' offensive snaps and ran a route on 59% of pass plays -- both season highs. RB Jaret Patterson wound up carrying 11 times, but six of those came in the fourth quarter of a game that was already decided.
We'll see if Haskins makes it back for Week 9. His absence would be a boost for Vidal based on what we saw in this one. But Vidal will remain the lead back regardless. And he gets an awesome matchup against the Titans' 28th-ranked RB defense. Expect to find Vidal inside the top-24 RBs in our rankings again next week.
RB Omarion Hampton is eligible to return in Week 10, but NFL Network's Mike Garafolo said a couple of weeks ago that the rookie could miss more time. The Chargers get the Steelers in Week 10 and the Jaguars in Week 11 before a Week 12 bye. It's possible that Vidal gets three more games as lead back.
