Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for 142 yards and 1 TD and caught 3 passes for 30 yards and another score as the Detroit Lions hammered the Washington Commanders 44-22. Despite the banner fantasy outing, Gibbs' 35 snaps were his fewest since Week 5, while David Montgomery, who tied Gibbs with 15 carries, out-snapped Gibbs and was in on a season-high 38 plays.
2025 Fantasy Football Impact
Gibbs led Detroit's backfield with a 62% snaps share and 52% rush share from Weeks 1-9. However, the Lions move back toward a tandem approach in Week 10.
That two-man rotation started early. Gibbs and Montgomery each had 4 first-quarter carries and stayed relatively even throughout the game.
Gibbs' first TD of the day came in that opening period, a 14-yard reception that gave the Lions the lead for good.
His second score came with 9:41 remaining in the first half, a 13-yard run to the right. His third and final score of the day came in the fourth quarter, where Gibbs ran 43 yards untouched to put the Lions up 41-16.
David Montgomery and Sione Vaki finished off the game for the Lions, with Montgomery rushing 5 times for 26 yards in Detroit's final two drives in the fourth quarter.
That mop-up duty resulted in Montgomery out-snapping Gibbs for the first time since Week 5 and posting his highest rushing total (71 yards) since Week 3.
• Gibbs - 35 snaps, 18 touches, 172 yards, 3 TD
• Montgomery - 38 snaps, 16 touches, 71 yards, 0 TD
While this week's usage for Montgomery was encouraging, the blowout nature of the game likely played a part. Gibbs didn't earn another touch after his fourth-quarter TD and Dan Campbell used Montgomery to salt the game away.
We'll keep an eye on their usage moving forward. Gibbs remains an elite option and Montgomery will be a low-end RB2 in Week 11 as the Lions travel to Philadelphia.
